Position Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all clients in accordance with Mercy House standards.  As the senior leader of the organization, the Executive Director participates in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving.  He/she works within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization, and is accountable/responsible for specific projects as assigned. This position is primarily focused on fundraising for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Human resource management

• Direct, plan and coordinate the work of the program staff including supervision and evaluation, training and team building

• Responsible for conflict resolution amongst residents, volunteers and/or vendors

• Organize and schedule weekly goal setting and progress review meetings

• Ensure adequate and qualified volunteers and staff to carry out the program activities

• Ensure adherence to Mercy House rules and regulations and responsible for implementing disciplinary action where necessary

• In consultation with the Mercy House Board, responsible for the selection, hiring, coaching anddiscipline of the House Coordinator

 

Program delivery

• Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities of the program in accordance with the Mercy House Charter

• Responsible for the supervision and management of confidential client records

• Benchmark peer organizations and analyze trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the Mercy House Board

• Develop, implement and evaluate recruitment strategies to ensure high occupancy rates in the program

 

Mentoring programs

• Responsible for mentoring the house coordinator and the clients

• Lead bible-study and prayer sessions to develop client’s spiritual growth

 

Volunteer management program

• Coordinate volunteers to ensure all house functions are maintained

• Manage all volunteers

• Responsible for ensuring skills development workshops are relevant in topic and targeted for the appropriate audiences

 

Fundraising programs

• Responsible for selling the Mercy House vision and objectives to local and national philanthropic organizations and securing grants from the same

• Participate on the Mercy House Fundraising committee and play a lead role in executing the various fundraising activities

 

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work or related field i.e., human services, health or education

• Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills

• Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

• Ability to work independently and as part of the team

• Decent computer skills

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work flexible hours

• Bilingual (preferred)
