1.  Complete an application with all required documents. All required documents must be submitted before an initial intake meeting can be scheduled.

Rent assistance is awarded based on need. Please be as detailed and specific as possible in your application so that the Mercy House Minneapolis board can best determine how to be of assistance to you.

  2. Once the board has had a chance to review your application you will receive an email with an update on how Mercy House Minneapolis can be of assistance to you. Mercy House Minneapolis often has a waiting list for rent assistance so it may take several weeks for your application to be reviewed.

  3. If you are approved for rent assistance through Mercy House Minneapolis you will be required to submit a W-9 form from your landlord in order to receive your assistance.

  4. If you are approved for rent assistance through Mercy House Minneapolis your check(s) will be made out to your landlord/lender but sent directly to your home address. Rent subsidy recipients are responsible for delivering their rent checks to their landlords/lenders once they receive them from us.

  5. You may be required to meet with a budget coach and/or our Client Coordinator for the duration of your rent assistance (via phone/Zoom/in person). Failure to comply with these requirements will result in discontinuation of your rent subsidy.
